Qatar MotoGP Preview: The Precarious Balance Between Sport And Politics

One thing every MotoGP journalist (and indeed every sports writer) gets to hear on social media is "keep politics out of sport". What fans mean, of course, is "stop expressing political opinions I disagree with".

You can't keep politics out of sport, of course. This weekend's Qatar round of MotoGP is the proof of that. Decisions made in Jerusalem, Washington, D.C., and Tehran, which kicked off the current conflict in the Persian Gulf, caused MotoGP at the Lusail International Circuit to be postponed when hostilities started at the end of February. And rising tensions are casting doubts over the safety of the event set to happen this weekend.

18 Riders, 2 Substitutes On The MotoGP Grid At Qatar

When the news broke that Yamaha would not be traveling to the Lusail International Circuit to compete in the Qatar round of MotoGP due to the security situation in the region, the question was who else would defy the MotoGP Group and refuse to travel to Qatar. Speculation mounted when Alex Marquez announced he would not be going, choosing to have surgery to fix the plate that had worked loose in the shoulder he injured at Barcelona instead.

As of Thursday morning, it looks like only Joan Mir will be joining Alex Marquez by staying home. There will be 18 riders on the grid at Qatar. Or at least, there will be 18 riders entered at Qatar. This morning, Trackhouse confirmed that Raul Fernandez had been passed fit to race in Qatar, making it 18 out of a possible 22.

The Honda HRC WorldSBK star will line up alongside Marini in Lusail while the 2020 World Champion continues his recovery at home.

Honda HRC Castrol have confirmed that WorldSBK star Jake Dixon will replace Joan Mir at this weekend's Qatar Airways Grand Prix of Qatar. Mir, who returned to action last weekend in Sepang, was forced to withdraw from the Grand Prix in Malaysia and will continue recovering at home. In his place comes the experienced Dixon, who spent seven years in the Grand Prix paddock from 2019 to 2025, collecting seven wins and 22 podiums in Moto2. In 2021, the British rider also made two MotoGP starts with a best finish of 19th coming at his home round at Silverstone. The 2026 WorldSBK season has been one complicated by injury for the #96, but a return to fitness in the latter half of the season saw him take five top-10 finishes aboard the CBR1000RR-R SP.

Dixon: "First of all I have to say thank you to Honda HRC for this opportunity. Getting the call to come ride one of these bikes is always mega and I am looking forward to it, I think every rider dreams of racing for the Honda factory team in MotoGP when they're a kid. It's been a little bit since I last raced a MotoGP bike, so we need to take the weekend steady and go step by step. I want to wish Joan all the best and I hope to see him back on the bike soon. It hasn't been a straightforward year for me either, so I sympathise a lot with him. Let's make the most of this weekend."

HOT HEADLINES: match point for Marc Marquez as MotoGP arrives at Lusail.

The classic night GP could well culminate in a coronation as Round 20 gets into gear.

By the time we go green on Sunday, we could be looking at one of the greatest turnarounds in a single season MotoGP has ever seen. 161 days will have passed between Marc Marquez(Ducati Lenovo Team) being 102 points behind the Championship lead to the #93 facing a coronation under the lights of Lusail in Qatar to retain his title and make it a historic eighth in MotoGP. A remarkable season has just three GPs left to go but if results go his way on Saturday, the reigning World Champion will be exactly that again going into 2027.

image

PERMUTATIONS: Marc Marquez's maths for title #8

The permutations are simple: across the course of the weekend, outscore chief title rival Jorge Martin (Aprilia Racing) by 30 points and the #89's teammate Marco Bezzecchi by 8. It would mean that results do indeed have to go Marquez's way; if he doesn't take at least P5 on Saturday for his end of the bargain, then Sunday's out of the question. With Martin's participation subject to a Thursday medical check after he sat out the points scoring ops at the Malaysian GP, it may well be Bezzecchi who attempts to delay the #93's title celebrations. Marquez is a double winner at Lusail in 2014 and 2025 and in terms of match points, five of his seven title have been clinched at the first possible opportunity - will it be six from eight when the curtain comes down on Sunday?

NOT OVER YET: the Aprilia dynamic

As for Bezzecchi and Martin, both need to be on their A-game to halt the #93. 30 points may sound a lot to outscore by but with the 2024 World Champion's injury struggles and Bezzecchi needing a top five in the Sprint to guarantee himself remaining in contention going to Saturday, it's an uphill task. Perhaps their fellow Aprilias can have a say? Ai Ogura(SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team) was fast for fourth last time out, and after racing Bezzecchi at full pelt, whilst teammate Raul Fernandez is subject to a medical check for his broken fingers.

DS 0989Alex Marquez (73) and Pedro Acosta (37) at Sepang. Photo courtesy MotoGP.

CHASING PACK: Acosta and a host of Lusail winners

Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) is fourth overall and whilst being in mathematical contention, needs to outscore Marquez himself by 31 points. From P4 to P6, 30 points cover Acosta, Ogura and Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team), winner of the 2023 Grand Prix of Qatar. 2024 winner Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) hopes to repeat his podium success of 2025.

Enea Bastianini (Red Bull KTM Tech3) completes the top ten in the standings and after a top five in Malaysia, the 2022 Qatar GP victor returns to the site of his first MotoGP win. The Italian got ahead of Fermin Aldeguer (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) in the standings but the #54 is heading to Lusail and, pending a Thursday medical check, will return to duty.

imageMaverick Viñales (12) at Sepang. Photo courtesy Tech3.

SURPRISES: Viñales and Binder aim high

KTM's charge on the road was good at Lusail in 2025 with Maverick Viñales taking P2 until a tyre pressure penalty. An encouraging weekend nonetheless, something that he and Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) will be keen to replicate in 2026, the latter a double podium finisher in Qatar. Luca Marini's (Honda HRC Castrol) P7 was his best finish since Hungary and is seeking more of the same this weekend whereas teammate Joan Mir has been a QatarGP podium contender in previous years, but he continues to face some fitness struggles so remains a question mark. Fellow Honda rider Diogo Moreira (Pro Honda LCR) can secure Rookie of the Year honours if he scores 15 points; teammate Johann Zarco(Castrol Honda LCR) was a mega P4 at Lusail in 2025 - can he repeat it in 2026? A double podium finisher and long-time GP leader last year, Franco Morbidelli (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) shouldn't be ruled out of a strong final Qatar GP.

Last but not least, although Aldeguer is back, Iker Lecuona continues on super-sub duty, this time for Alex Marquez who underwent shoulder surgery after Sepang and aims to be back for Portimao with BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP. Yamaha have withdrawn from the Qatar GP, meaning Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP and Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP will not be present.

Match point one, Round 20: the Grand Prix of Qatar could bring the biggest moment of the season so far - tune in to see if Marquez makes more history or Aprilia - or Acosta - can put pause on the celebrations.

Author: Marco Ghezzi - THE PACK Italia | The brand born in the Motor Valley returns to the spotlight with new international ownership, its technological heart firmly rooted in Italy, and a relaunch plan focused on production, innovation and new markets. The Experia will be the first model to return to production, followed by the entire Energica range.

Energica is back on the road. And it is doing so by returning to its roots, its passion for motorcycles and the wealth of technology, innovation and expertise that made it one of the best-known and most respected names in the international electric two-wheeler industry. Founded in Modena, at the heart of Italy's Motor Valley, Energica was among the pioneers of high-performance electric motorcycles. Its journey began with the Ego family of sport bikes, continued with the Eva Ribelle and EsseEsse9 naked bikes, and expanded with the Experia, a sport-tourer designed to take on long-distance journeys.

Energica is back tour Milan - EICMA 2026 - THE PACK - Electric Motorcycle News

These motorcycles have won over enthusiasts around the world through their performance, technological solutions and distinctive character, proving that electric propulsion can deliver an authentic motorcycling experience. That legacy was also forged in racing, from the Isle of Man to four seasons as the sole official motorcycle supplier to the FIM MotoE World Cup. This international proving ground helped advance Energica technology, particularly its high-voltage systems and DC fast charging.

Following a period of financial difficulties that culminated in the company entering judicial liquidation and ceasing operations in 2024, the brand is now preparing to write a new chapter in its history. This has been made possible by its acquisition by Energica Pte. Ltd. a Singapore-based company backed by a group of international private investors who share a passion for the brand and
a belief that the technological and industrial heritage developed in Italy deserves a new opportunity for growth.

Energica is back tour Milan - EICMA 2026 - THE PACK - Electric Motorcycle News

To announce and celebrate this return, "Energica Back on the Road" was being held on November 4 at Fonderie Napoleoniche in Milan, bringing together the press, dealers and industry professionals during EICMA 2026 week.

New ownership, the same Italian soul

The new Energica has a clear goal: to preserve what has made the brand unique while building a stronger, more efficient and competitive business around that legacy. The new owners see the value of the acquisition not only in the brand, patents, intellectual property and existing type approvals, but above all in the people and the international community of riders who continued to believe in Energica even during the shutdown. They are the clearest proof of what the product can deliver.

Energica is back tour Milan - EICMA 2026 - THE PACK - Electric Motorcycle News

Technical continuity is one of the cornerstones of the project. The core engineering and design leadership team that helped establish and develop the company has remained active in Italy, preserving the knowledge, skills and experience built up over the years. The company is led from Singapore by Shivangi Bagri, Interim Chief Executive Officer who is leading the company through the transition. Design, engineering and R&D are led from Italy by Giampiero Testoni, part of Energica's founding team and its Chief Technology Officer, with his core designer Paolo Imeni, and their expanding R&D team.

Production in Asia, technology and research in Italy

Motorcycle production is moving to Asia, while design, engineering, research and development, and responsibility for technical and quality standards will remain in Italy. Every motorcycle will continue to be built to Energica specifications under the supervision of the Italian technical team, but with a leaner manufacturing model and a lower cost base. This will significantly reduce manufacturing costs and allow motorcycle prices to fall by approximately 20% compared with the past, while preserving the brand's identity and technological standards.

Energica is back tour Milan - EICMA 2026 - THE PACK - Electric Motorcycle News Experia leads the return of the entire range

The commercial relaunch will begin with the Experia, the electric sport-tourer that broadened the brand's horizons into motorcycle touring and long-distance travel. It will be the first motorcycle to return to production, progressively followed by the Ego, Eva Ribelle and EsseEsse9, bringing all four models in the Energica range back to market. Initially, the motorcycles will retain their existing technical platforms, making use of already developed and homologated technology to accelerate the restart of operations.

Technological upgrades will follow, beginning with a new battery, alongside further improvements to range, efficiency, performance and, above all, reliability. The new strategy will also place greater emphasis on customisation, with lighter, made-to-order versions featuring carbon-fibre bodywork.

Energica is back tour Milan - EICMA 2026 - THE PACK - Electric Motorcycle News Europe, the United States and Australia: rebuilding the sales network

The new Energica will initially focus on markets where the brand has already established a significant presence and a strong owner community. Europe, with Italy at the forefront, the United States and Australia are the priorities for resuming sales, rebuilding the distribution network and strengthening after-sales support. The company is working to re-establish relationships with dealers and importers, market by market, with the aim of creating a commercial structure capable of supporting its next phase of growth. A first concrete milestone is set for November 15, 2026, when an updated list of dealers and authorised service centres will be published on Energica's official website.

Asia will also play an important role, both as a growing market and as the manufacturing base. India, in particular, will be where "ride-intelligence" technology is implemented on other motorcycle models. Italy will remain a strategic market, both because of the brand's origins and because of the role Italian design and technology will continue to play in its identity.

Energica is back tour Milan - EICMA 2026 - THE PACK - Electric Motorcycle News Service and spare parts: Energica customers come first

One of the new owners' first commitments is to rebuild the relationship with existing Energica motorcycle owners. This international community continued to ride and enjoy their motorcycles throughout the crisis, travelling across continents, deserts and remote regions. For these riders, Energica's return means, above all, having a technical point of reference and a support organisation they can rely on once again. Service has already resumed, and spare parts shipments to dealers in several countries have restarted. The Italian technical team works directly with the dealer network and owners, providing support even in areas where no authorised service centre is yet available. In these cases, European customer support can be contacted directly at: service-eu@energicamotor.com

In addition, Energica ReCharge is an already active programme that will give existing owners the opportunity to upgrade to new versions of the motorcycles when they become available.

Energica is back tour Milan - EICMA 2026 - THE PACK - Electric Motorcycle News Energica Owners' Lounge: a new experience for riders

Energica's new strategy goes beyond motorcycles and the sales network. It aims to build a closer, more lasting relationship with owners. This vision has led to Energica Owners' Lounge, a digital platform designed to support the entire motorcycle ownership and riding experience.

The application will feature four main areas.

  • Community will enable riders to connect, share routes and organise rides, using tools that can also take weather conditions, charging opportunities and participants' availability into account.
  • Collection will offer technical riding apparel, accessories and a selection of products reflecting Italian design and craftsmanship.
  • Garage will provide a digital space for managing motorcycles, including those from other brands, with information and tools dedicated to maintenance.
  • Ride Intelligence will introduce an intelligent riding analysis system developed from Energica's technological experience in racing. The aim is to turn data collected on every journey into useful insights and recommendations to improve the riding experience.

The device supporting this technology will be designed to work both with Energica motorcycles already on the road and with new models, allowing existing owners to benefit from future innovations as well. This project reflects the desire to involve the community directly in the brand's development by gathering suggestions, ideas and experiences from riders who use Energic motorcycles every day.

Energica is back tour Milan - EICMA 2026 - THE PACK - Electric Motorcycle News Energica Back on the Road: the future starts again in Milan

"Energica's return represents much more than restarting production of a motorcycle range," said Shivangi Bagri. "It is about carrying forward an Italian industrial and technological achievement that helped demonstrate the potential of high-performance electric mobility, while building a new organisation capable of meeting the challenges of the global market. On one side stands the Motor Valley heritage, racing experience and expertise of the Italian technical team. On the other are international ownership, a more competitive manufacturing model, new technologies and a strategy centred not only on motorcycles, but also on the people who ride them."

Choosing Milan during EICMA week underscores Energica's determination to reconnect with the international motorcycling world. On November 4, "Energica Back on the Road" officially opened a new chapter for the brand. One that builds on its Italian roots, looks towards international markets and aims to restore Energica's leading role in the future of electric two-wheelers.

Because Energica riders never stopped. Now the brand is getting back on the road with them.

At the center of every program are Champions Habits: the data-proven best practices used by the world's best riders. These techniques work because they are based on how motorcycles are engineered to be ridden and respond to rider inputs, with principles that apply across motorcycle types, riding environments, and experience levels.

Students learn how vision, braking, throttle application, body position, and steering work together to manage speed, direction, and grip. Students build confidence by understanding what to do, how to do it, and why it works, and then developing the habits to apply those skills consistently across any riding environment at whatever pace the rider chooses.

Those skills matter when a corner tightens unexpectedly, traffic stops suddenly, the pace increases, or grip decreases. Under pressure, or when things go wrong, practiced habits can make the difference between knowing what to do and being able to do it.

ChampSchool's approach emphasizes operational excellence: the ability to operate a motorcycle with precision, awareness, and adaptability. Most riders already understand that they should respect traffic laws, wear proper gear, and ride responsibly. Training must also teach them how to use the motorcycle's controls effectively when things go wrong.

World Class Coaches

ChampSchool's coaching team brings together world champions, national champions, career police motor officers, industry experts, factory test riders, and motorcycle journalists. Their collective experience spans decades of professional racing, street riding, motorcycle development, testing, and the daily demands of riding a motorcycle for a living.

That depth of experience supports a shared curriculum and a practical teaching approach. Coaches help students connect Champions Habits to their individual riding goals, identify habits that limit control, and develop techniques they can continue practicing long after school.

Whether a student wants more confidence on a touring motorcycle, greater control in traffic, or improved performance on a racetrack, the objective remains the same: better riding through better understanding.     Yamaha Champion Riding School instructor Robertino Pietri. Photo courtesy ChampSchool

A Programs for Every Rider and Every Budget

2-Day ChampSchool — The premium flagship program provides two days of focused instruction and coaching at racetracks nationwide. A controlled, repeatable environment allows students to practice at real-world riding speeds while developing skills they can apply on the street or track. Optional Yamaha motorcycle, Dainese riding gear, and Arai helmet rentals provide a complete arrive-and-ride experience.

1-Day ChampStreet — An economical, scaled-down version of ChampSchool that brings the same core riding principles to a one-day format. Held in a facility's paddock or kart track area, ChampStreet focuses on the needs of everyday motorcyclists using their own street bikes and street gear. No leathers required.

1-Day ChampPrecision — ChampSchool principles applied at low speeds, drawing on the techniques used by career police motor officers. Students develop balance, coordination, and precise clutch, throttle, and brake control to make tight turns, parking lots, and other low-speed situations easier to manage.

ChampGrad — Continuing education customized for ChampSchool graduates who want to deepen their understanding and refine their technique. Private, semi-private, and 4:1 group programs provide options for different goals and coaching needs, allowing graduates to build on their previous training.

Private Lessons — Customizable experiences for ChampSchool graduates seeking dedicated coaching. Instruction can focus on specific challenges, individual riding goals, or a broader plan for continued development, with arrangements tailored to the rider.

Champ U — Affordable online courses that bring Champions Habits and the core principles taught at ChampSchool to riders wherever they live. In-person training requires a significant investment of time, travel, and money; Champ U makes that knowledge accessible on your schedule and at your own pace. Whether riders are preparing for school, exploring what they could learn, or continuing their education from home, Champ U offers a practical way to invest in better riding. Every in-person class includes a complimentary Champ U: Core Curriculum course to help students prepare and make the most of their time with the coaches.

Invest in the Rider

Motorcyclists invest in exhaust systems, tires, suspension, and electronics to improve their bikes. An investment in the rider improves the skills they bring to every motorcycle they own. Better vision, better braking, and better control stay with the rider long after the bike has been sold.

Two days of training: A lifetime of better riding.

Destination Qatar: The Ducati Lenovo Team launches the challenge MotoGP World Championship

Ready, set, and stop in Lusail for the 20th round of the 2026 season. The appointment is set in Qatar, a track where the Desmosedici GP boasts a fantastic tradition with as many as 9 overall victories: From the historic three wins in a row by Casey Stoner (2007, 2008, and 2009), to the successes of Andrea Dovizioso and the Gresini Team with Enea Bastianini and Fabio Di Giannantonio. In 2024, the factory team returned to the highest step of the podium with Pecco Bagnaia, repeating the feat in 2025 with Marc Márquez. The red bike from Borgo Panigale arrives on track leading the constructors' standings with three races to go in the Championship.

Control and strategy paid off with P2 in Saturday's Sprint in Malaysia, then pure instinct and talent allowed Marc to dominate the GP in Sepang. Bolstered by his 80th victory in the premier class, Marc is ready to play his first match point for the Riders' Championship right in Doha, a track where he proved to be competitive already last year.

Always very fast on this track, Pecco Bagnaia is putting a bittersweet weekend in Malaysia behind him. After a solid P6 in the Sprint, Sunday brought a more uphill battle. He is constantly working to close the gap and get back to fighting with the strongest.

Marc Márquez (#93, Ducati Lenovo Team)
"Qatar is a great track, but not one of my favorites, and in the past, in some years, I've really struggled a lot here. Last year, on the other hand, we were really fast and competitive. In Malaysia, we managed the weekend in the best way possible; especially on Saturday, it was easy to make mistakes. The strategy won't change here: we work day by day and aim to give our absolute best in Sunday's race".

Francesco Bagnaia (#63, Ducati Lenovo Team)
"Qatar is another really nice track, but very tough in this final stretch of the season. A circuit that has always brought out the best in the Desmosedici GP and where I have always been very competitive. We continue to work hard to get closer to the front group".

MotoAmerica Expands Mission King Of The Baggers For 2027 As Indian Motorcycle Increases Presence

Bagger Class Now Open To Non-US Manufacturers In 2027 Along With New Rules Package

Irvine, CA (Nov. 4, 2026) — MotoAmerica is happy to announce changes for the Mission King Of The Baggers class for 2027, with Indian Motorcycle committing to an increased paddock presence, new technical regulations, and the class opening to additional manufacturers.

"We are excited about where Mission King Of The Baggers is headed for 2027," said MotoAmerica President Wayne Rainey, three-time MotoGP World Champion. "We created this class for the American V-Twin Bagger. Our fans were surprised that Harley-Davidson had decided to run in a spec exhibition series abroad and not compete against the other manufacturers in America for a national championship. Their departure has opened the door for other manufacturers. Indian Motorcycle has stepped up in a big way that puts more bikes on the grid, and now new manufacturers are interested in competing in King Of The Baggers for 2027 as well. MotoAmerica racing is always about competition, the more, the better."

The revised technical rules target longer engine life and fewer rebuilds while preserving the close racing seen in previous seasons. MotoAmerica is also working with multiple engine suppliers to improve access to competitive equipment.

Rev limits will be set at 7000 rpm for Harley-Davidson and 7500 rpm for Indian. The existing balancing framework remains in place to maintain competitive parity between manufacturers.

Full-season competitors will be required to use the MotoAmerica Maxx ECU Race unit with controlled firmware. The standardized engine-control system prohibits traction control and lift control while supporting consistent data collection. Exceptions are in place for single-event entries and teams competing in three rounds or fewer.

"Our approach is to make targeted changes that address the demands teams face over a full season," said MotoAmerica Technical Director Tige Daane. "Reducing the frequency of major engine work should help teams better manage their budgets and spend more time on track."

Additional manufacturers may request approval to enter production-based touring and bagger motorcycles, subject to technical and competitive evaluation.

The final rules package and any supporting technical bulletins will be published prior to the start of the 2027 season.

By Mat Oxley:

It's been said that to a rider, Sepang is 'the worst 45 minutes of your year', both physically and mentally. The first goes without saying: you're manhandling what is essentially a giant combustion engine on wheels through a track in the tropics, clad in leather. And that's before the debris and rocks start flying!

But then there is the psychological side of it all: this is where you win or lose it, where you discover if your remaining races will be an upward line or a steep fall from the top. Just ask Bezzecchi, coming in after a rather unnecessary collision with Ogura. The Bez wasn't fast enough to grab those precious points, and his Aprilia compatriot Ogura came in rough and hard. Carbon and aero fly all over the place, and now Mat and Peter have to lay down the law to keep the kids from fighting…

And speaking of flying aero: did anyone notice how the lack of it didn't seem to slow Ai down a bit? That's odd enough by itself, but then you see Marc absolutely dominating this race without using a ride height device. A race where significant moves were made without aero, no RHD? Surely it can't be! I assume the world must be ending?

Well, that depends on who you ask - but if it does end, it might start next week during the race in Qatar!

Okay, I kid, but let's not beat around the bush here: next week's race is vastly more important than Sepang - or any other race, for that matter. Shortly put, against all sane advice and reason, MotoGP is going to an area that could turn into a potential conflict zone at any second.

Fun fact: did you know there's a giant American air force base, just a stone's throw away from the track?

Well, the riders and even some manufacturers aren't taking the risk. According to Jack Miller, there's currently about 19 riders who are going to decline the invitation and everyone's favourite Aussie is amongst them. And they're not alone: Yamaha, too, has decided not to go, spurting Liberty Media to lay down the law in truly draconian fashion.

So here we are, at what might be the eve of an escalating conflict, with the first rider strike in almost thirty years against the corporate power of a media giant. And don't think for a second that this is 'just politics', because the outcome of this conflict might have massive effects on MotoGP, Liberty Media, Formula 1 and even a slight bit of global politics.

Yeah, I think we'll have plenty to talk about…

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Nov. 3, 2026) — The 21st annual Barber Vintage Festival honoring the life and legacy of founder and visionary George Barber drew thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts and hundreds of AHRMA racers from 48 states and 14 countries to Barber Motorsports Park and the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum.

The three-day weekend kicked off early, Wednesday, Oct. 7, with a private event for museum members and invited guests showcasing two new exhibitions, "DUCATI 100" and "GSX-R FORTY YEARS." Both exhibitions were curated by board member Ultan Guilfoyle and designed by Pierre Terblanche, resident mentor of the Barber Advanced Design Center.

Guilfoyle co-curated the 1998 "Art of the Motorcycle" exhibition at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York City. "George Barber is the reason we're here," he told attendees, "and I'm proud to be asked to curate these two exhibitions in his honor." Housed on the fifth and third floors of the museum, the exhibitions will run through this spring.

With Hurricane Isaias expected to reach central Alabama, Saturday's AHRMA "Legacy Laps" were moved to Friday. Executive Director Brian Case led the way in John Surtees ' Ferrari 158, followed by Lee Clark at the wheel of Barber's Brabham BT8, Stephen Mathews on a Matchless G50, and Chuck Huneycutt riding the Ducati 750 Sport that Mathews raced.

MotoGP Legends Kenny Roberts, Kenny Roberts Jr., and Kevin Schwantz—with a combined five 500cc world titles among them—also took part in the event, hustling around the 17-turn, 2.38-mile road course with Roberts on an ex-Surtees MV Agusta 500 Four, Roberts Jr. aboard a Team Roberts KR211V, and Schwantz piloting a 40th anniversary Suzuki GSX-R1000R.

Friday night's "Motorcycles by Moonlight" gala is a festival tradition. Nearly 400 guests attended this year's dinner and silent auction supporting the "Discovery and Innovation Motorsports Fund." George Barber believed motorsports is a powerful platform for student engagement, and this fund perpetuates the museum's leadership role in innovative STEM education.

In his post-dinner speech, Case lauded the efforts of Education Programs Manager Liz Johnson, Ph.D. "Each year, thousands of students come through this museum," he said. "Many of them don't arrive here because they love motorcycles—at least not yet. They come here to discover engineering and design; they discover science and technology."

Board Chair Charles Miller was among the colleagues and friends interviewed for a short documentary film on George Barber's many contributions. "George left a blueprint for us," he noted. "And the blueprint is, 'No job is too small. Nothing is beneath you. Always be curious. And put other people first.'" View the film on the museum's YouTube channel.

Isaias swept through the area overnight, bringing with it high winds and heavy rain. On Saturday morning, hundreds of visitors were lined up to enter the museum, their dampened spirits lifted by the promise of two new exhibitions, seminars with high-profile guests, twice-daily engine startups, book signings, and access to the basement conservation area.

Around the 880-acre park, AHRMA monitored the weather conditions and adjusted its programs to suit. Road racing featured throughout the weekend, with cross-country, motocross, and trials competitions at discipline-specific locations. Flat track was held off-site at the nearby Talladega Short Track. By Sunday, the rain was gone, and the sun was shining.

BMW Motorrad Days Americas, Isle of Triumph, demo rides, stunt shows, live music, and the American Motor Drome "Wall of Death" filled the park with countless activities. The vintage swap meet is one of the largest of its kind in the U.S. "The weather wasn't ideal," admitted Guest Services Manager Sunny Crew, "but the vendors and attendees enjoyed great deals."

The 22nd annual Barber Vintage Festival presented by BMW Motorrad is scheduled for Oct. 8-10, 2027. The Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum thanks Ducati North America, Suzuki Motor USA, and the Italian American Heritage Society of Birmingham, Alabama, for their support of the "DUCATI 100" and "GSX-R FORTY YEARS" exhibitions.

Aprilia Racing in Qatar for last GP of flyaway tour:

JORGE MARTÍN BACK ON TRACK IN QATAR, MARCO BEZZECCHI READY FOR TWENTIETH ROUND OF SEASON

The MotoGP flyaway tour concludes at the Lusail International Circuit, ahead of the return to Europe for the final two races of the 2026 season. Marco Bezzecchi and Jorge Martín will both be in Qatar, with the Spanish rider ready to get back on the track after his injury at Phillip Island.

Jorge Martín, who had decided to withdraw before qualifying in Sepang on Saturday to focus on his recovery from the non-displaced distal radius fracture sustained in the sprint at Phillip Island, will travel to Qatar to take part in the Grand Prix weekend.

Bezzecchi arrives in Qatar following his seventh sprint podium of the season at Sepang. In the long race, however, the Italian couldn't make his potential count and finished sixth. He now aims to round off the flyaway tour with a result to show for it.

The Lusail International Circuit, near Qatar's capital, Doha, is 5.38 km long, with a main straight of over a kilometre. The circuit has 10 right-handers and six left-handers. Qatar staged the first night Grand Prix in history in 2008. The move to night racing proved successful and has made this one of the most spectacular rounds on the MotoGP calendar.

Jorge Martin: "It was a shame not to be able to carry on with the weekend at Sepang, but just having the chance to try was an achievement in itself. I went back to Spain to continue the treatment I need to recover from the injury and to get to Qatar in the best shape possible. Now we'll see how the body responds and start working with Aprilia from this Thursday to see how far we can go."

Marco Bezzecchi: "Sunday's long race in Malaysia wasn't easy, so I'm keen to put that right. I'm happy to be heading to Qatar. It's a track I really like. We'll aim to get it right from the start, put together a good weekend and finish as well as we can before we head back to Europe."

But growth isn't just about numbers. It's about people and the connections we create through motorcycles and racing. Our dealers and H.O.G. chapters are essential to that effort, particularly in the United States. Austin will be our starting point for bringing owners, dealers, H.O.G. members and MotoGP fans together on and off the track, building experiences we can expand as the championship grows.

We're also continuing to develop our race motorcycles alongside our teams and technical partners, pushing performance and competitiveness forward. That commitment is central to Harley-Davidson Factory Racing and Screamin' Eagle Parts & Accessories, connecting what we learn on the track with the motorcycles and performance products we offer our customers."

2027 TEAMS AND RIDERS: CONTINUITY AND NEW ENTRIES

The FIM Harley-Davidson Bagger World Cup has confirmed an initial lineup of five teams and 11 motorcycles for its second season, combining returning competitors with new entries.

The provisional 2027 team entry list includes:

• Joe Rascal: 3 motorcycles

• Saddlemen Race Development: 3 motorcycles

• Niti Racing: 3 motorcycles

• Kyle Wyman Racing: 1 motorcycle

• Mad Monkey / Tobacco Road Harley-Davidson®: 1 motorcycle

While participation is confirmed for these five teams, the overall entry list remains provisional as discussions continue with additional organizations.

Several rider signings have already been finalized with official announcements expected in the coming weeks.

MORE PERFORMANCE, SAME COMPETITIVE PRINCIPLES

The 2027 Harley-Davidson Bagger World Cup race motorcycle introduces a series of technical improvements developed throughout the inaugural 2026 season, alongside further innovations currently in development.

The 2027 developments reflect two complementary approaches: Harley-Davidson Factory Racing's ongoing pursuit of greater performance and improvements developed in collaboration with participating teams or in response to their feedback. With multiple racing organizations working extensively on the same platform, their combined experience provides valuable technical insights and opportunities for improvement.

The 2027 motorcycle features upgrades across several key areas:

• Engine performance: Approximately 2-3% more horsepower, with the engine rev limit increased from 7,000 to 7,200 rpm.

• Transmission: Further improvements to the gearbox, including a new Dynojet quickshifter sensor co-developed with Harley-Davidson.

• Suspension and handling: New fork caps that allow for increased front ride height, upgraded rear shocks with independently adjustable damping settings, and a revised swingarm designed to improve rear-wheel grip.

• Electronics: Active tire pressure monitoring to provide additional information to teams and riders.

• Durability: Improvements aimed at increasing the motorcycle's overall reliability throughout the racing season. Additional developments are underway, including:

• Aerodynamics and bodywork: Aimed at reducing drag and improving handling.

• Rider ergonomics: Increased adjustability of handlebar controls, foot positions and seating configurations to better accommodate individual rider preferences.

All technical upgrades are made available to every competitor, maintaining a level playing field.

The knowledge gained through racing may also contribute to future Harley-Davidson production motorcycles and Screamin' Eagle performance products.

Jason Kehl - Technical Director and Team Principal, Harley-Davidson Factory Racing: "From the beginning, we've approached the Bagger World Cup as a racing program that never stands still. We're constantly looking for more performance, whether that's increasing power, improving rear-wheel grip, refining suspension or optimizing rider ergonomics. That's part of our engineering philosophy, and being a spec series doesn't change it.

One of the advantages of having multiple teams racing the same motorcycle is the technical knowledge we gain from their different approaches and experiences. Their feedback helps us identify opportunities for improvement, and some of the 2027 updates, including the increased rev limit and revised fork caps, are direct results of that collaboration. We combine their input with our own engineering work to ensure every improvement benefits all competitors.

Beyond the championship, racing allows us to develop and validate technical solutions under demanding conditions. The data and experience we gain can contribute to future Harley-Davidson production motorcycles and Screamin' Eagle performance products. That's an important part of the value of this racing program."

DYNOJET JOINS AS PRESENTING SPONSOR

Dynojet, a longstanding technical and racing partner, will become Presenting Sponsor of the championship for 2027. Reflecting a collaboration that extends beyond sponsorship into technical development and performance, the championship will adopt the official name FIM Harley-Davidson Bagger World Cup Tuned by Dynojet.

DUNLOP EXTENDS OFFICIAL TIRE SPONSORSHIP

Harley-Davidson also confirmed the extension of its sponsorship with Dunlop as Official Tire Supplier. Beyond supplying racing tires, Dunlop will continue providing trackside technical support and logistics across the championship's expanding international calendar, as well as supporting the Harley-Davidson Bagger World Cup Racing Contingency Program powered by Dunlop.

  • To mark the Australian Grand Prix, Aprilia unveils a motorcycle that pays tribute to a circuit that has made its mark on the history of World Motorcycling.
  • A trace that has always rewarded the courage of the rider and the technical excellence of the bike, values that are at the heart of Aprilia.
  • To celebrate its victories on the Australian circuit, Aprilia is unveiling a special, limited-edition version of the RS 660, featuring unique graphics and equipment.
  • The Aprilia RS 660 Phillip Island tribute will be on display at EICMA - Milan, in the Aprilia booth - Hall 9, from 5 to 8 November.

Aprilia Racing's history of racing successes is closely linked to Phillip Island. On the blisteringly fast and spectacular Australian circuit, Aprilia Racing has secured no fewer than ten victories across the various classes of the MotoGP World Championship, not to mention those achieved in the Superbike World Championship with the legendary RSV4. The MotoGP victory secured on the same circuit in 2025 by rider Raúl Fernández on the RS-GP enabled Aprilia to reach the historic milestone of 300 wins in the World Motorcycle Championship, making it the most successful European manufacturer in the history of this event.

To celebrate its unbreakable bond with the Australian circuit - which, from 2027, after almost thirty seasons, will no longer feature on the MotoGP calendar - Aprilia has produced a special edition of the RS 660, one of the most popular and best-selling mid-range sports bikes on the market.

The Aprilia RS 660 Phillip Island Tribute is a limited edition model, and features a striking livery designed exclusively for this model, as well as a passenger seat cover included as standard equipment. The side panels feature the circuit's logo, formed by the track layout, just above the words 'Phillip Island Circuit' and the chequered flag at the finish line.

The base colour is white and, together with the green on the sides and tail section and the red of the wheel rims, it echoes the colours featured in the circuit's logo. The fuel tank features a badge showing the number of victories Aprilia has achieved on this circuit, whilst the serial number is on the steering head plate.

The technical platform is that of the RS 660, the mid-range sports bike that serves as a benchmark in its class, and which has redefined sportiness in an innovative and modern way: as a lightweight, high-performance machine with superior technical and electronic features, it is also accessible and enjoyable for everyday use by new riders, whilst simultaneously delivering a thrilling riding experience on the track for experienced riders.

It is the only motorcycle to offer such an advanced suite of electronic controls: the latest-generation aPRC system includes traction control, wheelie control, engine braking control, cornering ABS and engine mapping managed by the Ride-by-Wire electronic throttle control, all of which are adjustable to meet the rider's needs on the track and make road journeys safe and enjoyable.

The electronic features are completed by launch control, a bidirectional electronic gearbox and cruise control system.

Also fitted as standard is the six-axis inertial platform, which enables the controls to operate at their best.

The 660 cc, four-valve, front-mounted twin-cylinder engine - a compact and lightweight latest-generation model - achieves record performance for a twin-cylinder engine of this capacity, delivering 105 HP at 10,400 rpm and 70 Nm of torque at 8,400 rpm (although a version with power limited to 35 kW is also available).

The engine is utilised as a load-bearing element and helps to create a compact, lightweight and rigid structure, thanks to a frame comprising two side beams bolted in place at the steering head and at the rear, continuing Aprilia's tradition of crafting superb chassis architectures.

All the technical specifications for the Aprilia RS 660 models are available in the press kits in the press area: www.press.piaggiogroup.com

NIU shows its 2027 moped line-up at EICMA 2026. The headline model is the FQiX 500, a new top-of-range version of the FQiX Series. Alongside it, the company announced a batch of model-year changes across the NQi, NQiX and FQiX ranges.

NIU FQiX 500 - EICMA 2026 - THE PACK - Electric Motorcycle News

FQiX 500

The FQiX 500 borrows its base from the NQiX 500, one of NIU's strongest sellers in the performance segment, but gets a reinforced frame and FQiX styling. Top speed is 110 km/h, or 115 km/h in Boost mode. ABS is standard.

It ships with two 72 V / 28 Ah batteries. A third battery can be fitted under the seat, which NIU says raises range to a maximum of 130 km. Pricing starts at €4,699, with European dealer deliveries expected in Q1 2027.

Model Year 2027 changes

NIU counts 25 changes across the range for 2027. The most significant:

  • The NQiX 500 moves to a stronger HC420 steel frame. Its top speed goes up from 100 to 110 km/h, with 115 km/h available in Boost mode.
  • The NQiX 150/300, FQiX 150/300 and NQi Sport/GTS receive a smaller 72 V / 30 Ah battery pack. NIU claims up to 7% more range. The pack is backward compatible with MY25 and MY26 models and works with the existing charger, which matters for current owners looking at an upgrade.
  • Every model now rolls on CST SC12 all-season tyres. The NQiX and FQiX Series get brighter headlights, and the NQiX Series adds three colours: Matt Blue, Jungle Green and Nardo Grey.
  • Further updates cover faster GPS and connectivity, plus improved corrosion protection on frames, stands and swingarms. The MY2027 vehicles are also scheduled to reach European dealers in Q1 2027.

NIU in Europe

NIU entered the European market in 2016 and now works with more than 630 dealers and service partners across 14 countries, backed by local NIU organisations for sales, after-sales and marketing.

The company cites registration data to underline its position. In Germany, it says the NQiX 500 is the best-selling electric scooter, accounting for one in four electric scooter registrations this year, and that NIU holds close to 40% of the electric scooter market (source: IVM Performance, September 2026). In Italy, NIU says it is the leading electric brand, registering over four times as many vehicles as its nearest electric competitor (source: ANCMA, January-October 2026).

Sieghart Michielsen, Director of International at NIU Technologies, attributed the brand's European standing to its dealer network and local teams, stressing that dealers service what they sell and that the 2027 range builds on that ownership focus.

About NIU

NIU is listed on Nasdaq and sells in 52 countries. Since launching its first electric scooter in 2015, it reports more than 5 million vehicles sold, with users having covered over 47 billion kilometres as of November 2026. Its range spans electric motorcycles, mopeds, bicycles and scooters.

Chinese electric off-road manufacturer Arctic Leopard is using EICMA 2026 in Milan for three announcements. It has partnered with hard enduro rider Graham Jarvis to develop its next generation of electric enduro motorcycles. Its new XD Pro gets its European launch, and the XC Pro makes its first public appearance outside China. Both bikes are on the Arctic Leopard stand in Hall 18, booth I91.

Graham Jarvis joins development

Arctic Leopard announced in Milan that it will work with Graham Jarvis on the development of its next generation of electric enduro bikes. The 51-year-old British rider is regarded as one of the most successful hard enduro riders ever. His record includes seven Red Bull Romaniacs wins, five Erzbergrodeo victories, six Sea to Sky titles and five Hells Gate wins, and before that a long career at the top of trials.

Jarvis is no stranger to electric off-road riding. He co-developed the JARV-E, a limited-edition electric hard enduro bike built in Austria by JARV-E Moto GmbH. In June 2026, he rode it to the finish of the Erzbergrodeo, one of only 15 riders to complete the race. Arctic Leopard has not yet said which models the collaboration will produce or when the first results will reach the market.

XD Pro: a step up in size and power

Arctic Leopard first showed the XD at the CIMAMotor show in China on 11 September and launched it there on 19 September. It is a full-size off-road machine and now the most powerful model in the brand's X range, positioned above the XE Pro R.

The motor delivers a peak output of 35 kW (47 hp) and 800 Nm of torque at the rear wheel. Top speed is 120 km/h. Energy comes from a 74V 76Ah battery, and Arctic Leopard claims a range of up to 200 km at a constant 40 km/h. As with all range figures quoted at low steady speeds, real off-road range will be considerably lower.

The chassis uses a 43 mm front fork and a rear shock with a 40 mm piston. Both ends offer 250 mm of travel and are adjustable for preload, compression and rebound. The factory spec sheet lists RFLOXA suspension. The US distributor lists KYB, and the European distributor says the supplier depends on configuration, with KYB, RFLOXA or KKE as options. Braking is handled by 240 mm hydraulic discs front and rear. The XD Pro rolls on CNC-machined hubs with 80/100-21 front and 120/90-18 rear tyres, the standard enduro size.

Seat height is 890 mm. Arctic Leopard quotes a curb weight of 89 kg, while the US distributor lists 95 kg. Overall dimensions are 2,040 x 820 x 1,180 mm. A TFT display and full LED lighting complete the package.

The factory website lists the XD Pro at USD 6,599. The US distributor expects deliveries from January 2027. European pricing and availability have not been announced.

XC Pro: first look, few facts

Arctic Leopard has kept the XC Pro under wraps. Before its Chinese reveal, the brand only showed a silhouette with a question mark. The US distributor describes it as a track-focused model. In Milan, the bike is on display as a physical unit.

Power output, battery capacity, range, weight, homologation status and pricing have not been published. There is also no date for sales in Europe.

From Dakar to dealer floor

Arctic Leopard was founded in 2021 in Wenling, Zhejiang province, and builds a wide range of electric off-road bikes, from compact trail machines to full-size enduro and trial models. The brand has used the Dakar Rally's Mission 1000 category for new-energy vehicles as a testing ground since 2024. At Dakar 2026, Team Galicia entered three Arctic Leopard bikes and finished first, third and fourth in the category, with Fran Gómez Pallas taking the win. The rally bikes are competition versions and are not identical to the production models.

ARCTIC LEOPARD >

In Europe, Arctic Leopard is sold through a network of national distributors, including Italy, Germany, Spain, the UK, Poland, the Czech Republic and a combined France and Benelux importer.

B2B News | Estonian IoT specialist Comodule is supplying the connectivity platform for Zero Motorcycles' new LS3. It is the company's first significant move into electric motorcycles and mopeds, after building its business on e-bikes and e-scooters.

What LS3 owners get

Through Comodule's system, LS3 riders can use connected features via the Zero Motorcycles App. For Comodule, the deal brings technology already proven on bicycles and scooters into a segment where digital features are still far from standard.

Comodule - Zero Motorcycles - THE PACK - Electric Motorcycle NewsImage © Zero Motorcycles | Zero LS3

A segment lagging behind

Connectivity has become the norm on e-bikes, and in the car world more than 75 percent of new vehicles sold in 2024 came with embedded connectivity, according to Counterpoint Research. On motorcycles and mopeds, it remains the exception rather than the rule, although brands such as Zero have started adopting IoT technology to add functionality for riders.

Comodule CEO and founder Teet Praks sees electric motorcycle makers facing the same issues the e-bike industry dealt with years ago: securing the vehicle, understanding how it is used, and keeping in contact with the rider after the sale. According to Praks, the collaboration with Zero, a brand active in electric motorcycles for more than a decade, allows Comodule to bring connected vehicles to a much wider audience.

A full connectivity package

Comodule's offer is aimed at manufacturers that want connected models without developing IoT systems themselves. The package consists of three parts: IoT modules that integrate with the vehicle and are designed to cope with motorcycle-level power and durability demands, a cloud platform with API access for real-time vehicle data, remote diagnostics and over-the-air updates, and a rider app.

About Comodule

Founded 12 years ago, Comodule says it has connected more than 850,000 light electric vehicles to date. Its end-to-end system covers IoT hardware and software, including a rider app and a Control Center for manufacturers, allowing riders to track and control their vehicles remotely. All development and production take place in-house in Europe.

  • The special exhibition "100 YEARS. 100 STORIES. 100 key moments from Ducati's first century" celebrates the Borgo Panigale-based manufacturer's centenary with another unmissable event

Milan - Ducati is showcasing a series of new models at EICMA that make its range even broader and more sophisticated, unveiled at an event held ahead of the traditional Tuesday opening for industry professionals. On the same evening, a monographic exhibition dedicated to the centenary of the Borgo Panigale-based manufacturer was inaugurated; it will be open to the public for the duration of the show.

Following the models unveiled at the Ducati World Première 2027, the Borgo Panigale-based manufacturer is presenting at least five brand-new models at its final event of the year. The Diavel V4 becomes sportier and more sophisticated thanks to new electronic control strategies and Öhlins semi-active suspension on the new V4 S. The DesertX Rally is the model Ducati has dedicated to rally-raid and competition enthusiasts, developed on the new V2 engine and drawing on feedback and experience gained over years of development.

EICMA also offers the first opportunity to see the Monster Dark - unveiled digitally a few days ago - the Multistrada V4 Grand Tour and Pikes Peak, and above all the Panigale V4 MY27, the latest evolution of Ducati's Superbike, which incorporates all the innovations and technical solutions developed in racing, in the flesh.

Alongside the Panigale V4 MY27, three exclusive, limited-edition models are also making their debut: the Panigale V4 SP, designed to offer the ultimate track experience for track day enthusiasts; the Streetfighter V4 SP, the pinnacle of the Streetfighter range; and the Panigale V2 SP, developed as the homologation model for the bike that will compete in the World Supersport Championship from next year.

Finally, the 2027 Ducati range features new, eye-catching liveries on the XDiavel, Multistrada V2, and Scrambler Full Throttle, as well as the new Hypermotard 698 Mono RVE and Hypermotard V2 RVE. And exactly one year on from the preview of the Desmo450 EDS, the first modern Ducati enduro, the Bologna-based manufacturer is bringing a new, exciting preview to EICMA: the Desmo250 EDS, which will be available at European dealerships in the summer of 2027.

All the new models from the DWP 2027 range will be on display throughout EICMA 2026 at the Ducati stand, where the Borgo Panigale-based manufacturer is ready to welcome all enthusiasts at Hall 5, stand O82.

  • Diavel V4

The new Diavel V4 MY27 further evolves the 'Muscle Roadster' concept, which, since 2010, has represented one of the most original interpretations of Ducati's philosophy. Created to combine the muscular character and striking presence of a cruiser with the performance and dynamics of a sports bike, the Diavel now reinforces its identity with a more aggressive style, updated technology and an expanded range. The design draws on the Diavel V4 RS, borrowing elements such as the new air intakes and several aesthetic features that accentuate its sporty character. Completing this evolution are the redesigned single-seat tail section, new wheels and numerous details that make the line-up even more dynamic and contemporary.

The major new addition is the S version, which returns to the range for the first time in the V4 engine era. It stands out for its Öhlins SmartEC-3 semi-active electronic suspension with event-based adjustment, which adapts the bike's behavior in real time, as well as for a specification that includes a lithium-ion battery, heated grips and dedicated finishes for the alloy wheels.

On the technical front, the 168 HP V4 Granturismo engine returns, updated with a new electronic control system that improves the response smoothness at low and medium revs, and complemented by the new Ducati Quick Shift 2.0 for faster, and more precise gear changes. The electronics have also advanced with the new 6.9-inch TFT display with optical bonding technology, standard turn-by-turn navigation and displays derived from the Panigale V4, as seen on the Diavel V4 RS.

  • DesertX Rally MY27

The DesertX Rally is the Ducati model designed for adventure touring enthusiasts, developed from feedback and experience gained over years of development and competition on the most challenging terrain. For Model Year 27, it adopts the DesertX family's new technical platform, built around the 890 cc Ducati V2 engine, the new dedicated monocoque frame, and the Full Floater rear suspension. The twin-cylinder engine, the lightest ever produced by Ducati in its class, delivers 110 HP and 68 lb ft of torque, with a particularly generous torque curve at low and medium revs, while the chassis has been designed to offer even greater control, precision, and safety off-road.

The DesertX Rally features professional-grade KYB suspension with long travel, including a closed-cartridge competition fork, technology typically reserved for top-level motocross and enduro bikes. The fork utilizes premium surface treatments such as Kashima Coating and DLC on the 48 mm stanchions, ensuring smooth operation, consistent performance and the ability to absorb even the most severe obstacles. At the rear is a fully adjustable professional shock absorber, designed to offer maximum support and control on the most challenging terrain, supported by an adjustable Öhlins steering damper.

The new Full Floater rear suspension with progressive linkages is a racing-derived solution that improves comfort, traction, and bump absorption. Thanks to this design and the increased wheel travel, the DesertX Rally further enhances its off-road performance, making the bike more stable, precise and controllable even in the most extreme situations.

Rounding off the off-road package are the new Takasago Excel professional tubeless rims, with a 21-inch front wheel and an 18-inch rear wheel. The rear rim's 36-spoke configuration enhances strength and reliability, while the narrower channels help make the Rally more agile over difficult terrain. Lighter and more impact-resistant than traditional designs, these rims represent a significant step forward for those seeking high performance and maximum reliability on the most demanding adventures.

  • Panigale V4 SP, Panigale V2 SP and Streetfighter V4 SP

The new Panigale V4 SP MY27 represents the ultimate expression of Ducati's supersport bike for track enthusiasts - a numbered series that brings solutions derived from WorldSBK and MotoGP directly to the Panigale V4. Based on the new Panigale V4 MY27, it stands out for its exclusive specification, including carbon-fiber wheels, an STM EVO-SBK dry clutch, a racing gearbox, and dedicated race-derived components. The 218 CV Desmosedici Stradale engine is fitted with the new Ducati Racing Gearbox with Neutral Lock. The chassis features Öhlins Smart EC 3.0 suspension and an adjustable rear link derived from the Panigale V4 R. The new aerodynamic package, featuring larger wings and Corner Sidepods - which respectively increase downforce and improve cornering performance - makes it even more effective, precise and fast through the corners, designed to offer every rider an experience as close as possible to that of the professionals.

The new Panigale V2 SP brings the new-generation Panigale V2 to the FIM Supersport World Championship. Developed based on the Panigale V2 S and refined thanks to the experience gained at the Lenovo V2 Future Champs Academy, it recaptures the original meaning of the SP designation as a production motorcycle designed to validate technical solutions intended for competition. Honda today presented the fully redesigned CBR1000RR-R Fireblade series, its flagship supersport motorcycle, as a 2027 model at EICMA 2026 held in Milan, Italy.

The CBR1000RR-R Fireblade series, Honda's flagship supersport motorcycle range, has been developed under the concept of "Total Control for the Track," with the aim of delivering its full potential on the racetrack. For the fully redesigned 2027 model, Honda has further pursued racing victories and the joy of riding, newly designing approximately 75% of the motorcycle's components to further enhance its competitiveness on the track.

The 2027 lineup consists of three variants: the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade (Fireblade), the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP (Fireblade SP), equipped with electronically controlled suspension and other features, and the newly introduced CBR1000RR-R Fireblade HRC Works Edition (HRC Works Edition).

The HRC Works Edition has been newly introduced as a homologation model for the FIM*1 Superbike World Championship (WSBK). It features dedicated components, including front winglets designed to enhance aerodynamic performance and cornering capability. The model is also designed to be road-legal through compliance with the regulations of individual markets.

Key features of the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade series

Chassis and suspension

For the 2027 model, Honda sought to combine outstanding cornering performance and chassis stability during acceleration and deceleration on the racetrack with agile handling and greater freedom of control on public roads.

The newly designed aluminum twin-tube frame achieves an ideal balance of rigidity. The opening in the head pipe, which channels fresh air to the air cleaner, has been enlarged to optimize lateral rigidity. In addition, the engine cylinder hangers have been changed from the previous one-piece cast structure with integrated stiffeners to a bolt-on configuration using separate brackets. This provides greater flexibility in frame design and, together with refinements to various components, reduces lateral rigidity by 20% compared with the previous model while maintaining torsional rigidity.

These changes improve cornering performance, tire contact feel, and stability under acceleration, achieving an advanced balance of handling performance on both the racetrack and public roads.

Furthermore, the use of a thin-wall gravity die casting (GDC) process enables highly precise rigidity tuning, allowing the frame to be formed with a minimum wall thickness of just 2mm. By optimizing wall thickness throughout the frame, Honda has achieved a weight reduction of 440g compared with the previous model.*2

The aluminum pressed-construction swingarm has also been redesigned. The pivot shaft diameter has been reduced from 20mm to 17mm, while wall thickness and pivot width have been adjusted to optimize rigidity. By reducing lateral rigidity by 12% while maintaining torsional rigidity, the new swingarm improves rear tire contact feel during cornering.

Suspension damping settings have been optimized for each variant to improve performance on the racetrack while enhancing the suspension's ability to follow road surface irregularities during everyday riding.

Fireblade: Retains the SHOWA (Astemo, Ltd.) Big Piston Fork (BPF) at the front and SHOWA BFRC-lite suspension at the rear.

Fireblade SP: Continues to feature electronically controlled Öhlins suspension, with NXP Smart-EC3.0 at the front and TTX36 Smart-EC3.0 at the rear.

To further reduce vehicle weight, a titanium fuel tank has been adopted. The 2017 CBR1000RR SP and CBR1000RR SP2 also featured titanium fuel tanks, but required an outer plastic cover. Advances in titanium pressing and painting technologies have made it possible to eliminate this cover on the new model, contributing to further weight reduction.

Exclusive to the Fireblade SP, the fuel tank features a hand-finished hairline treatment that leaves portions of the titanium surface exposed. This design combines weight reduction with functional beauty, creating a distinctive appearance that enhances the pride of ownership.

A new Honda Flagship WING product emblem, featuring a monotone silver-and-black design, is positioned on both sides of the fuel tank.

SP modelThe 2027 CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP

Power unit

The 999cc liquid-cooled, four-stroke, DOHC, four-valve inline-four engine features a two-stage variable-length intake air funnel system, a first for a mass-produced Honda motorcycle.

The system uses a two-piece intake funnel structure that separates vertically, varying the effective length and diameter of the intake passage according to engine speed. At engine speeds of 11,750 rpm and above, the upper funnel slides upward and separates from the lower funnel. This improves power output in the low-to-mid rpm range while maintaining high-rpm performance, contributing to greater ease of use across the entire engine speed range.

The existing two-motor throttle-by-wire system has also been refined. More precise electronic control enables finer adjustment of the throttle valve openings, improving throttle response during acceleration and engine braking performance during deceleration.

These refinements also enable smoother transitions from deceleration to acceleration, enhancing drivability and overall ease of control.

In addition to these improvements, components including the cylinder head cover have been changed from aluminum to magnesium, contributing to a weight reduction of more than 200g on the Fireblade SP.

HRC modelThe 2027 CBR1000RR-R Fireblade HRC Works Edition.

New HRC Works Edition

The newly introduced HRC Works Edition has been developed to further enhance competitiveness in WSBK. Designed exclusively for solo riding, it incorporates numerous dedicated components.

Its carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) front winglets, front fender, and rear duct fairing improve aerodynamic performance. Combined with their lightweight construction, these components contribute to improved acceleration and cornering performance.

The suspension features mechanically adjustable Öhlins NPX front forks and TTX36 rear suspension, delivering consistent damping performance and road-holding capability during racetrack riding. Braking is handled by Brembo Hypure Sports components.

The HRC Works Edition also offers the following HRC Racing Kit*4 components to meet racing regulations:

PGM-FI and ignition unit

Bottom-neutral shift system

Head pipe collar

Swingarm pivot collar

Other racing components

Adoption of sustainable materials

As part of its efforts to realize a society with zero environmental impact, Honda aims to achieve a 100% sustainable material usage rate by 2050 and is actively expanding the use of recycled and biomass-derived materials.

All variants of the 2027 CBR1000RR-R incorporate four types of sustainable materials.

Windscreen:

Made from DURABIO™,*5 an environmentally responsible, plant-derived engineering plastic. With excellent moldability, weather resistance, and scratch resistance, DURABIO™ delivers durability and improved environmental performance without compromising the windscreen's functionality or appearance.

Front and rear seat bases:

Made using pre-consumer recycled materials derived from manufacturing and molding offcuts generated during the production of automobiles, home appliances, and other products.

Air cleaner case, side covers, and other components:

Made using post-consumer recycled materials derived from discarded plastic products previously used in households, commercial facilities, and other applications.

Honda Flagship WING emblem:

Made using chemically recycled acrylic resin produced by breaking down used acrylic materials, including those recovered from end-of-life vehicles, into raw materials for reuse.

Preamble: Brembo pulled the covers off its new GP4 brake caliper at EICMA in Milan this week. It's set to brake the entire MotoGP grid starting in 2027, as teams get ready for the new technical regulations which make use of spec calipers mandatory.

In a sport where every gram counts, the new GP4 is 75 grams lighter per caliper, or 150 grams per bike, and about 5% stiffer than the current version. The holes machined into the caliper body do two jobs: they cut weight and help with cooling, so the caliper doesn't need any dedicated cooling hardware.

And while the body is a complete redesign, it still uses the same pads, discs, hydraulic setup and mounting as the current caliper, so it swaps right in simplifying the transition for teams.

BREMBO UNVEILS THE NEW GP4 CALIPER SET TO BRAKE THE ENTIRE MOTOGP GRID FROM 2027

At EICMA 2026 (November 3-8), Brembo unveils the new GP4 brake caliper, the result of the continuous research and innovation that have always defined Brembo's commitment to MotoGP, with the aim of constantly improving performance, feel and safety. The new GP4 is one of the solutions developed by Brembo to meet the needs of teams and riders ahead of the new technical regulations.

Lighter yet stiffer, the new GP4 reduces weight by 75 grams per caliper, for a total saving of 150 grams on the bike, while increasing stiffness by approximately 5% compared with the current solution. This result has been achieved through a meticulous optimization process designed to strike the best possible balance between weight, stiffness, performance and reliability. The new caliper body is the outcome of an extensive optimization process, in which every element has been redesigned with performance in mind.

Optimization of the caliper body also extends to thermal management. The geometry, openings and machining features have been engineered to contribute to the overall efficiency of the braking system without the need for dedicated cooling solutions. The holes integrated into the caliper body serve a dual purpose, reducing weight while promoting ventilation, and also becoming one of the defining features of the new GP4.

The caliper's design also stems directly from the pursuit of performance, reflecting a principle that has always been central to Brembo's design philosophy: form follows function. Machined surfaces, holes and weight-saving features result from a process of material removal in which every element of the caliper body serves a specific functional purpose and helps define its shape. The design has been completely overhauled compared with the previous GP4, with the central structure acting as a backbone, while diagonal lines and side openings give the caliper an immediately recognizable technical identity.

At the same time, this major evolution retains the key compatibility features of the current platform. The new GP4 maintains the same hydraulic architecture, uses the same brake pads and discs, and is fully interchangeable in terms of mounting. The material and surface finish also remain unchanged.

Displayed to the public for the first time at EICMA 2026, the new GP4 brake caliper demonstrates the continuous transfer of knowledge between research, development and competition, a wealth of technological expertise that constantly drives the evolution of Brembo braking solutions.

  • STYLE THAT DOESN'T NEED TO SHOUT

The Trip express Moto Guzzi's new style: pared back, contemporary and authentic.

Every element has been designed by taking away rather than adding, letting what really matters come through: balanced proportions, clean surfaces and the stage presence of the twin-cylinder engine in its deep, minimal black finish.

The 15-litre metal fuel tank (the largest in its class) combines elegance and practicality. The full LED headlight gives Moto Guzzi's iconic eagle light signature a modern interpretation. The circular 3.6-inch TFT display connects seamlessly with a smartphone and provides clear, immediate information on every journey. The backlit handlebar switchgear is easy and intuitive, keeping everything under control at night too. The bike's name is elegantly embroidered on the seat.

Because the best technology is the technology that makes life simpler.

  • THE PLEASURE OF RIDING, EVERY DAY

At the heart of The Trip is a modern liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine, the only one in its class, of almost 48 hp and fully compatible with an A2 licence.

Peak torque also exceeds that of its direct rivals, at 43.5 Nm at 6,500 rpm, with 82% already available at 3,000 rpm.

What makes the difference in everyday use, though, is the way the power is delivered: with its 270° crank, the Moto Guzzi twin has real substance and linearity in its delivery, with most of its torque available from low revs, which translates into excellent response when you open the throttle. The twin-cylinder layout also gives off very little vibration. Its strength is in making every kilometre a pleasure.

Riding is relaxed in urban traffic and engaging when the road opens up beyond the city.

Everything is designed to instil confidence, naturalness and riding pleasure.

Because fun doesn't come from complexity. It comes from feeling instantly at one with your motorcycle.

The tubular steel trellis frame, a classic of the Italian motorcycle, is a compact, light structure that keeps overall weight down to just 180 kg in running order. The Trip is by far the lightest and most accessible model in the Moto Guzzi range.

The result is a chassis that is easy and intuitive from the first encounter, where handling and stability work together to make the new bike easy in town and fun on twisty roads.

The 41 mm fork and the side-mounted single shock absorber, both adjustable for spring preload, are tuned to benefit comfort and control.

The braking system, managed by dual-channel ABS, is also top of the class, with a 320 mm disc and radially mounted calliper at the front and a 220 mm disc with a twin-piston calliper at the rear.

  • TECHNOLOGY THAT FOLLOWS YOU, NOT TECHNOLOGY THAT DISTRACTS YOU

The Trip gives you all the technology you need, exactly when you need it.

The Ride-by-Wire electronic throttle and three riding modes let you tailor the bike's character to any situation, with their own calibrations of traction control and engine delivery:

  • Road. For taking on every day with smoothness and comfort.
  • Sport. For adding energy and fun on your favourite routes.
  • Rain. For tackling the most difficult conditions with greater safety.

Integrated pictogram navigation and the Quick Shifter electronic shifter complete the experience, accessories designed to make every ride simpler and more engaging still.

  • THE CITY IS ONLY THE STARTING POINT

The Trip is built to get you around in style in everyday life, but it can do a great deal more.

It is the bike that makes a detour on the way home special. That takes you to discover a new neighbourhood. A tucked-away bar. A road you have never ridden.

It is the perfect companion for a spur-of-the-moment escape out of town, to the sea at dawn or a hilltop at sunset.

For anyone after new experiences, and for anyone who loves to travel, even if only in their head.

For those who believe adventure can begin the moment you turn the key and click down into first.

  • THREE LIVERIES. THREE WAYS TO LIVE THE TRIP.

Black Metropolis

The contemporary elegance of the city.

Green Grove

Where Moto Guzzi tradition meets nature.

Red Beat

The eagle's energy at its most dynamic and sporty.

And to celebrate the start of a new era, there is also The Opening special edition, for anyone who wants to be part of it from day one.
