Increasingly think that SMR Nuclear Power is a Boondoggle, or even a Bezzle. The Nuclear Industry trying to remain relevant after the huge failure of trying to deal with problems by increasing scale. If they can't deliver reactors at a reasonable price/time in the >3GW range, maybe they can modularise old tech in the 200-500 MW range and get mass production savings.

They still have to get governments to buy the first one and fund the factory. Still 10-30 years out.

Why does the UK pay so much for gas and store so little?

The wind, tides and sun are always generating or capable of generating electricity somewhere in the UK. The biggest problem is the grid, not the generation.

SMR reactors are not a short or even medium term solution. It's a tech like Fusion and Hydrogen As Fuel that's always 10-30 years out.
