25 Sep 2001 Slashdot | Philip Zimmermann and 'Guilt' Over PGP : We who live in the D.C. area are very familiar with the Post's penchant for "manufacturing" stories where none exist. Mr. Zimmerman unfortunately was the party on the receiving end of the editorial foul play in this particular case. Iif you caught the reports and links to the Washington Post article that Phil regretted releasing PGP into the wild, you need to read his repost on /. Remember. Use encryption while you can.
[ 25-Sep-01 7:14am ] 24 Sep 2001 The Cause of Terrorism : Belief causes terrorism. There you have it put to its shortest form. A most interesting article written entirely in e-Prime. I wish a few more people would understand e-Prime and make use of it. It's a most useful tool.
[ 24-Sep-01 5:53pm ] The Register : The [US/UK] government may be biding its time with its promised attack on Al Qaeda, but it's not wasting a split second going to war with the Bill of Rights, in a frenzy of bureaucratic and legislative measures aimed at exploiting the tragedy of 11 September for the benefit of the law-enforcement, national security and intelligence establishments.

[ 24-Sep-01 9:18am ] It's all about Oil money : Another view. What will happen is that the Bush clique will visit tens if not scores of Panamas upon the earth. We will proceed to kill 3,000 innocents for every guilty terrorist arrested, just like in Panama. it's long, but this one's definitely worth reading.

[ 24-Sep-01 7:44am ] David Icke on WTC : It woz the The Illuminati wot did it. Well them, blood sucking reptilian aliens from Zeta Reticuli and the British Royal Family, of course. I was waiting for some Icke-ian comment and now it's appeared. Now throw aside the more extreme madness and see if you agree with this. "When I first travelled America in 1996, I was staggered at what a controlled society the "Land of the Free" really was (though still not as bad as Canada). Now in the wake of this tragedy, the United States, and other countries, are set to become a fortress of invasive surveillance and, what's more, because of what has happened, the American people will not utter a significant word of protest at the rapid expansion of this Big Brother society." Then substitute UK or Germany for United States.
[ 24-Sep-01 7:29am ] 23 Sep 2001 Pig Brother Another fine piece of British Satire. Sadly Portillo and Brown are the only pigs left.
[ 23-Sep-01 9:45pm ] Salon.com Sex | Sex in a time of terror - n/a [Blogdex] I'm very glad to see that we're back to putting Sex top of the search lists. It's seems completely appropriate that one of the most linked URLs on Blogdex should have both Sex and Black Tuesday in the same article.

[ 23-Sep-01 8:17am ] 22 Sep 2001 Slashdot | Michael Jackson Releases Uncopyable CD Well actually it's Sony. This CD works fine in CD players but is unreadable on a CD-ROM drive in a computer. That's a clever trick, but shouldn't there be some sort of warning on the box? Presumably it also gives you the right to buy it, rip it from analog to MP3 and then take it back for a refund as it doesn't work.
[ 22-Sep-01 5:13pm ] Metacrap : tremendous short piece from Cory Doctorow about the problems of metadata. Both funny and thought provoking at the same time.
