With all the G+ and G Account changes over the years, I'm somewhat confused about what data is held where. And so what this latest announcement actually means.

We all have some account info held here. https://aboutme.google.com/ A lot of this was entered via G+ but not all of it. And it now seems to stand alone and is shared across multiple Google properties. it's still heavily tied to G+ but Google has progressively separated it.

The G+ API provided access to some of this. And there was a data exploit available for a while that provided too much access to it. That's the excuse Google is now using to shut down G+. At that time all the user functionality at https://plus.google.com/ will disappear.

What's not clear is what happens to https://aboutme.google.com/ and to public Google profiles. What's even less clear these days is what other people can see of that. And it's relation to other public persona on Google properties such as Youtube.

Then we get into a hard question. What APIs does Google have in other places that access Google account information? And are they potentially a risk similar to the exploit discovered in G+.

So little clarity. So much obfuscation. So many hidden links.
