There is no de-coupling between GDP growth, energy and resource usage. So how do we get to sustainability?

From a comment earlier in the year. "Yes, we will have completely changed mankind's approach to global economics by turning the quest for endless growth into the quest for endless sustainability by 2115" #22C
1. It’s time to realise that Malthus was right. Sure, he got the details wrong, but he was right in principle. There can be no such thing as infinite growth. In the extreme case, it ends once we fill the universe and consume the universe. So it's not about if we should manage growth, but when we start doing so.
2. Any non-renewable resource will eventually be depleted. (see point 1)
3. Any renewable resource exploited beyond its recovery rate will eventually be depleted. (again, see point 1)
There are a few conclusions that can be drawn. The most important ones are that we have to find a way to stop consuming non-renewables and we have to find a way to live within the the constraints of nature.
We do not have to have all of the answers before acknowledging and addressing the problem.
