Interesting "We're all doomed" article from a climate prof and science explainer (who did graduate work with Carl Sagan) that blames the environmentalist community for failing to solve climate change.
"And environmentalists have had a huge, but ineffective, megaphone that the oil companies lack: the media."
Oh, RLY?
So, Global Warming is a Global problem, but the real issue is that US environmentalists turned this into a US Political problem? It's not all about the USA, m'kay.
Concerning the statement that "Al Gore has done a great disservice by politicizing a previously far more bipartisan issue", I would point out that his Republican opponents politicised it at least as much (if not more) than he ever did.
Also "environmentalists have had a huge, but ineffective, megaphone that the oil companies lack: the media." is entirely wrong. The media in general wilfully misrepresent most of the environmentalists' messages at every turn; if anything certain corporate interests have had the media's ear far more than anyone interested in saving the planet.
The thrust of the article is wholly correct; the attribution of failure is off-the-mark by some way.
