Recumbent, semi-enclosed, electric bicycle
Here's another competition from the motor industry and another young designer trying to re-invent the bicycle. I'm sure there is a practical and entertaining vehicle in here somewhere. If you can see past the "design" elements this might even be it. But there's a whole load of problems in the way. If you make it fast enough and heavy enough to be useful, it becomes a motorcycle and needs motorcycle registration, licensing and insurance. And that industry is really hide bound both on the manufacturing side and on the consumer side. If you treat it like a bicycle, you run up against another set of prejudices. In that case they think electric is cheating, recumbents are cheating or weird and aerodynamic, faired recumbents are even weirder.
So no surprise then that the http://www.sinclairzx.com/spec-x-1.html hasn't actually appeared.
However, I would love a small, lightweight, electric, recumbent scooter that did 85mph, had a range of 150 miles and could carry 4 bags of groceries. Somethig like a productionised version of Cedric Lynch's prototype.
