So you were totally down with what James Blake was doing until he went and blew it with that Joni Mitchell cover that was just plain embarrassing. And now there's all these people who want to ride his coat tails by making really bad mixes of his best work by putting a donk on it or some pathetic Skrillex-style BIG DROP. Yeah, I'm looking at you, Benny Benassi, you idiot.

And then somebody points you at some Welshman who's relocated to Brighton and makes those underwater dancehall sounds that are thickly laden over multi-timbred synths, vocal and instrumental stabs punctuate organic and evolving passages guided always by driving percussion and immaculate bass production. By chance you stumble across his 'Limit' remix and you go 'wow' and the tears start streaming down your face all over again because it's all too much man, just too much, really, too much.

Dauwd, Pinch, Shackleton, Raime, Sandwell District, Sepalcure, Sigha, Machine drum, Burial, Benoit, Damu, Ramadanman, and all the others. There's something going down, here, now, this year. It's not this, or that, or the other and of course it's not all good, but a lot of it is. And for another 15 minutes it's still pretty much below the radar so enjoy it while you can still say it's new.
