i don't believe there been a country that's gone to war with the US and lost and came out worse for it. Vietnam won and decades later remains a bit of a backwater.

For the record: my tongue was firmly in cheek there though you probably couldn't see it from where you are.
I'm not conflating shooting and torturing your own citizens (Libya, Syria et al) with over-zealous policing but when our governments stomp around the world crowing about free speech they need to take a long hard look at themselves, often. That goes for the UK as well.
