What is the current best platform for a public personal profile page? http://www.quora.com/What-is-the-current-best-platform-for-a-public-personal-profile-page What's the best platform for building a public personal profile page. It should collect all my posts and all my comments from all the networks and forums I'm on. It should show my status on the stats systems like Peerindex, Klout, Backtype, EmpireAvenue. It should have basic personal detail and links to my profiles all over the web (the YASN-Roll). And it should show my location and presence from things like Latitude, Foursquare, Skype and so on. And finally it should have some basic skinning and customisation so I can make it my own.

Buzz does many of the things you're describing but your specialised needs mean that you should really consider building your own website and using our APIs (and those of other companies) to integrate stuff from all over the web. 5 May 2011 5 May 2011

How specialised is the need? It ought to be widely appreciated and it's exactly the market about.me and flavours.me are aiming at. They just don't do it well enough.

Buzz and Google Profiles is an interesting approach. You've got the YASN-Roll and you're using the social graph to make it easy to build by suggesting links you've found. But there's something about the content aggregation that isn't quite working in the way that Friendfeed did. For instance, If you bring all your Tweets into Buzz, you're audience complains as it shows up in their view of Buzz. The question above is about building a Profile page of content and links, viewable on demand rather than pushed out into your follower's streams. This is a shame because if the connected sites appeared only in the buzz tab of the profile, it would be closer to what I'm after. So does that mean Buzz needs 2 level "Connected sites". "Publish to my profile" and "Publish to my public stream"?

Then there's location. The lack of use of the available standards is driving me nuts in particular RSS/Atom + GeoRss with RSS auto-discovery. And where that is provided, using it to flow the location data through to the next platform.

The request comes originally from a close colleague. I'm in the business, and still I'm shirking away from custom building this on a single website for him. Way back 5 years ago, I tried to do it myself but gave up in the end because it all got too hard. Today it's 10 times harder due to the large number of different potential sites and APIs and all the new tech like Ajax and pubsubhub.
