Intensely frustrating and irritating. The Hardware is so shiny. Some of the UI is so beautiful. The Support software sucks so badly. I'm led to believe that iTunes on OSX is not quite so bad, but I see plenty of people moaning about that as well. But like it or not, Apple's iPhones and iPods exist in an MS Windows world. And there's really no excuse for such a terrible but mandatory program on MS Windows.

I couldn't agree more, but a google search for iphone sync software will throw up various other options ... most of which will allow you to port your music from one computer to another. I don't know yet whether it'll work on iOS4

Looks like I got away with it. It only took a whole evening and then a whole morning. And having to guess the owner's app store password followed by the warning that this iPod was now authorised on it's max of 5 computers. Then there's 99 page T&Cs I had to agree to 3 or 4 times.
