The idea that the US is incapable of securing RAF Fairford from 5 guys in 3 transit vans is incredible. But I suppose it does provide just enough cover for the US to clear out their 12 B-1s. Since "defensive" bombing raids against Iran by the US are maybe off the table for the moment. At least using UK based B-1s.

UK Covid. The papers are claiming that this wave is dominated by xfg "Stratus", "American Covid". This seems to be based on very limited strain analysis testing 3 weeks ago.

1. Is that right?
2. Does the autumn '26 booster work well against xfg?
3. Is it worth paying for a private vax when the last NHS vax I had was Autumn '24?

What if sentencing guidelines are generally too harsh. So too many non-violent crimes result in short (under 3 years) custodial sentences, requiring a right to jury trial. And so can't be tried in magistrates courts.

For recommended < 6 month prison sentences, convert them to non-custodial. Transfer them to Magistrates courts. Beef up the probation and social services to handle them outside prison.

I'm kind of surprised that no private company has built something to take LFT +ve reports since the NHS stopped. All LFTs have a QR and unique code. So it would be possible to remove dupes.

It would rely on the public to self-report but if you are sufficiently invested to actually test, then you're more likely to play well. Data protection problems?
